Streamline your workflow with PathCam’s integration into the Epic LIS system.

PathCam 2.0 provides a seamless way to capture, import, and attach images directly to a patient’s record in Epic, ensuring an efficient and accurate documentation process. Follow these steps to maximize the use of PathCam within Epic:

Step 1: Open PathCam CAPTURE from Epic

  1. Open Epic: Start by logging into Epic (LIS) and navigating to the patient record where you want to attach images.
  2. Add Scan: Click the “+Add Scan” button to initiate the image attachment process.

Step 2: Configure PathCam Settings

  1. In the popup window, select PathCam 2 as the scanner.
  2. Check the box for Show Device User Interface.
  3. Click Acquire to open PathCam CAPTURE.

Step 3: Capture the Snapshot

  1. Adjust Settings: If you’re using PathCam HD, adjust the zoom and brightness to ensure clarity. If using PathCam HR, adjust the snapshot resolution and enable auto-crop as needed.
  2. Take Snapshot: Click the Snapshot button. You can view the captured image by selecting the thumbnail below the Snapshot button or the image tab on the right of the camera tab. From there, you can also apply annotations.

Step 4: Import and Attach the Snapshot

Once satisfied with the captured image:

  1. Click the Import button to attach the snapshot to the patient’s record in Epic. PathCam CAPTURE will close, and you will be redirected back to the patient’s Epic record.

Step 5: Review and Edit Attached Images

  1. View Snapshots: The snapshot thumbnail(s) will appear on the left of the screen.
  2. Select Thumbnail: Click the desired thumbnail to highlight the image in the featured image area.
  3. Name Specimen: Type the specimen name into the Description field, or use a barcode reader for faster entry.
    • If multiple images are captured, they will be imported as one attachment with several “pages” of images.
    • To individually name files, import snapshots one at a time.
  4. Accept or Capture More Images:
    • Click Accept and New to capture another snapshot.
    • Click Accept to finalize and return to the patient’s record in Epic.

Step 6: View Attached Images in Epic

  1. In the Attached Document section of the patient record, the imported image(s) will appear.
  2. If you imported multiple snapshots, the first image will serve as the thumbnail, and the specimen name you provided will be used as the filename.

By following these steps, you can efficiently capture and integrate imaging data into Epic using PathCam 2.0, improving documentation accuracy and workflow efficiency.PathCam_2.0_File_Import_Epic_v10122024
